Vail, Colorado was founded as a ski resort in 1962 and has since become one of the worlds largest ski destinations. Vail combines the best alpine resorts in the world with a small town feel. The 4,500 permanent residents and the 5,000 part-time residents enjoy the endless recreational activities that are available as well as the cultural opportunities. With 1,100 acres of open space which accounts for 30% of Vail's town-owned land; 350,000 acres of national forest and 5,289 skiable acres on one of the largest ski mountains in the world; both residents and visitors have unlimited activities to pursue.
